with the cost cutting and budget constraints my travel has been extremely limited. since april... i took two of my personal trips but beside that nothing nada... :) in terms of business travel... so if you reflect my travel plans to the economy then its prospects are not bright at all.

having said that... finally for the end of july i will have to make a trip to california. ok.. fine.. but it also came in the last moment.. i.e put in a request almost a month ago but it came into being fulfilled @ nick of the time... oh friday 7:50pm est.. lol book by 5pm pst... :) .. so i do not know if they really wanted me to travel. but i made the reservation.. :) he he he

ok here i am in the DIA Gate 36 ... aircraft has arrived. This is flight UA-932 towards IAD... and my upgrade has not cleared yet.

currently there are 10 FC remaining and 44 ppl on waiting list (O: LOL.... and i am in #6

oh i forgot to mention.. just now seat came down to 9 FC but waiting is still 44 and i am still #6... so lets see where this leads...

the other leg.. i have a 3B.. and i saw in the seat chart that there were 2 open seats. i.e. total of 10 ppl including yours humble 1P.

ok its 1436 and now FC is down to 7 and i am in #6 and waiting is still 44 so i don't know where these are coming from (O: .. i mean getting populated.. or bumped up...

UDU - United - 2010.04.12

i was checking today on my itinerary and another surprise which is as follows:

if you remember i had a return flight on UA-932 and UA-708. i assumed just like my flight on the 2010-04-07; i will have an upgrade.. but apparently not (O:.....

i see that on little over 72 hrs mark... FC is all full but 9 seats and i have been waitlisted for the upgrade. so between the 5th and 12th (in 7 days) 18 seats have been filled with either 1K; GS... looks like your humble 1P will have to be satisfied with the crappy E+.

but for the UA-708 i got the upgrade.. so that means nothing more than 2 free drinks (O:... LOL... that's all that's available in the short flight that is little over 1 hr.

UDU United - 2010.04.07

i started off pretty well never the less with hectic and gut wrenching drive i had to go through to get to the airport.

so, i checked in the BC/FC/RC counter in Denver and had to carry my luggage to Xray -5 and i hate that in Hartford. one has to carry their checked in bag to the drop off location. i hope that they improve or change that.

anyway, i was seated in 3B ... it was a nice seat for the 12 seat FC out of which only 7 were occupied and 5 were empty. so it was interesting that not all seats were given out for upgrades >??? or there were not enough elites... i have no idea because the monitor in Hartford was not working and it was showing wrong departure information.
but this flight departed early.

i ordered my usual double shot glenlevit and seltzer water with lime. and that took me through the flight. taste of glenlevit was not what it used to be.. either i was cheated and given a dewer's or my taste buds are betraying me. nothing much to report except that i finished the sudoko puzzle and enjoyed my drink.

now i am writing this from dulles gate C-19 waiting for my next leg of flight 933.

and fu'king unbelievable ... when i looked @ the terminal it said that there are 5 FC available and there are 22 people waiting for it... wow wow wow... ain't i lucky dog a humble 1P whose upgrade cleared like 3 days before (O:

i will update more with the inner situation and my service experience later tonight or tomorrow morning.

surprise surprise and surprise

just saw myself being confirmed on the second leg as well... so this is right in more than 48 hours mark... surprising..


surprising facts:
it still shows NF0; and F3 .. so looks like only 3 FC are remaining.
yesterday i mentioned that there were 11 exit rows occupied and when i checked in today only 5 are remaining and since only 3FC are remaining then total of 8 upgrades happened. so all i can safely mention is that there were @ least 8 humble 1Ps or above including yours truly

another surprise is i have not been assigned any seats.. so lets see and it seems like all the good seats in FC are gone. only remainings are 1(6)A->D; 3(5)A and 4(5)D. total of 12 seats remaining O: it does not add up but its ok (O:

looks like the inventory management is working well for united.

so basically i am on the queue with i dunno how many other ppl. still the cabin is F9 and NF0 and from the seating chart they have more than 11 seats available. Lets see if humble 1P can get the upgrade or there are more than 11 GS and 1K (O: in this mid-week flight... by the way its very interesting that there are 11 exit row seats occupied currently. with another 7-9 E+ being vacant. so i am assuming these 11 are @ least 1P or *Gold. it remains to be seen what happens in this flight.

i remember of getting upgraded once after i got boarded and my seat was changed (O: right before take off.. it was 1D though .. same route... but it was in ORD-DEN ... so after this i will have more idea about how fierce the competition is .. . and humble 1P has any chance of getting updrages in IAD-DEN route.

now i am going to check this on 24 hour basis (O: and post if any change i perceive.

my first leg which is flight
UA 0225 got bumped to upgrade confirmed just before 72 hours window. so basically there are five occupied in First. this means that 2 got in FC in last 12 hours. i got upgraded. other PAX may be same as me 1P or a fare paying. now it has dropped to F7 which is correct. i.e. 12 FC and 5 occupied F7. is shows NF2 now.

second leg UA 0933 is still pending ... lets see what happens in another 3 hours. seating shows F9 and NF0. and it has total of 13 seats occupied. which has not changed. .... so i am not sure how it works on this one since there is no NF? remaining...

ok now i am trying to check how does the united UDU works. first time i am taking flights after these got implemented in March 19th.

my flights are in the middle of the week so i am hoping to get through upgrades quickly so here is the deal.....

its about 609 am so its roughly 84 hrs to the flight and within 100 hrs for the first segment. and i am checking the first class seats on these flights. Assuming all 1Ks got cleared ...

Wed 1923 Flight 0225 3 Occupied and 9 empties [ total 12 ] just checked on the expert mode F9 but NF4
Wed 2155 Flight 0933 13 Occupied and 11 empties [ total 24 ] here F9 and C9 looks like a 3 class service and NF1 )O: looks like humble 1P is going to miss this one

again my return flight via Dulles has been cancelled and re-routed via chicago. i guess this is good..


i reached airport @ 1645 and departure for my flight was 1732. she was trying to make sure that i did not get checked in.. i mean she could not find me .. and then i gave her the confirmation number and made sure that she found me.. she had no choice...

it was less than 45 minutes for my flight ... but i made it...

i had put in a request for an upgrade and viola... it has been upgraded when i checked in the airport. but they pulled in my 4 500-miles upgrades.. ah well.. they were complementary anyway .. what do i have to say..

so far the time:

this has been a great experience. i am looking forward to full upgrades (O: ... i am sure i might be able to rake in quite a few upgrades.

i was placed on 12D and i was cramped on my seats.. this was flight from ORD to DEN..

but after all the dust has settled.. i got upgraded (O: ha ha ha . it was fun... getting moved to 1A... again... what are the chances.

it was nice.. got a fruit platter and another three drinks of glenlevit. so total of 5 drinks.. wow!!! that's a lot .. a real lot...

of course it started with a bang that the flight was delayed but another bang was

second flight of the year and it started with the big bang )O:

first my original itinerary got squashed under the mercy of mother nature. so united decided to book me for the next available flight which was the next morning.. common dude.. i am going for a weekend trip and if you put me over night at a airport the whole purpose is defeated right

so i spent most of friday 2010.02.05 calling united and trying to rebook my flight. luckily i was able to reroute my original itinerary to

UA 483 via Chicago

and while i am updating this blog there is a news that the flight in and out of chicago is delayed which means that i will most likely be missing (O: or may be not .... it impacts both landing and take off... so luckily unluckily i might be able to make the destination.....
